Netflix recently announced that while their subscription numbers are growing abroad, with Asia-Pacific as the fastest-growing segment, growth has slowed in the US.
The streaming wars commenced in earnest last year, with the launch of Disney+; but it’s now becoming clear just how much influence kids will have over the household choice of streaming platforms.
Disney + has already entered the list of favourites for younger kids and teens. Over 10% 1 of all kids are already using Disney +, a remarkable achievement given it only launched 2 months ago (currently, 7 out of 10 kids use Netflix1).
Netflix owns properties such as Stranger Things, which has enjoyed incredible success with teen and tween audiences, but Disney+’s wide selection of Marvel and Disney favourites is clearly resonating.
Given that 59%2 of US parents say that their children influence their TV subscription choice we expect Disney + to make further inroads into the VOD family domain.
