We’ve had a busy first season on #Kidtech, the SuperAwesome-produced podcast series that goes behind the scenes with the people and companies shaping the digital kids sector.
Since launching earlier this year, we’ve featured everyone from toy companies to kids podcasts; from kids SVOD to kids AVOD; from leaders in books and comics to leaders in STEM; from kids insights consultants to kids digital safety experts; from agencies to brands…
Every episode is hosted by the team at SuperAwesome and is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Soundcloud or wherever you get your podcasts from. To make things easy, you can browse all 23 episodes of Season One here. But we’ve also compiled the top five most-listened-to episodes of Season One right here! Start with these over the holidays!
#5 – Dona Fraser, The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU)
Episode 10 of Kidtech saw CEO Dylan Collins in New York chatting to Dona Fraser, Director of CARU, the children’s arm of the advertising industry’s self-regulatory group. Dona, an experienced data privacy and entertainment lawyer, and Dylan dived into the impact of technology on children: how parents are navigating new technologies, what companies should be doing and how doing the right thing is rarely the easy thing. Listen here.
#4 – Clark Stacey, CEO Wild Works
Our very first episode of #Kidtech featured Clark Stacey, CEO of WildWorks, the kids’ games developer best known for the Animal Jam series. He joined us in London to tackle some tricky questions such as focusing screen time on quality over quantity, measuring engagement in children’s gaming, and whatever happened to Barbie Guitar Star. Listen here.
#3- Sven Gerjets, Chief Technology Officer, Mattel
Back in October, Dylan and #Kidtech went to LA to sit with Sven Gerjets, Chief Technology Officer of toy giant Mattel, to talk about the future of connected toys, the role of AI in play and how nostalgia drives innovation in toy development. But mostly they just played with some Hot Wheels. Listen here.
#2 – Bjorn Jeffery, former CEO of Toca Boca
Bjorn Jeffery is a digital strategy and consumer culture advisor, best known for his role as founder and CEO of Toca Boca, a play-studio that makes digital toys for kids on touchscreen devices. #1 – Rob Lowe, Senior Global Director for Digital Consumer Engagement, LEGO
Our #1 most listened to episode in 2019 will probably come as no surprise…
In Episode 5 of #Kidtech we were joined by LEGO’s Senior Global Director for Digital Consumer Engagement, Rob Lowe, in London, where he and Dylan discussed LEGO Life, their groundbreaking social network for kids. In a must-listen episode for anyone in the toy industry, Rob also touched on the blend of physical and digital play, how LEGO does and doesn’t use YouTube and how they’re adopting 18 as the global age of a child. Listen here.
Next season we are continuing with our wide range of guests in the kidtech sector, including policy makers, media companies, content producers and many more exciting people. And, in case you missed it, Dylan just sat down with Kara Swisher as a guest on her critically-acclaimed podcast, Recode Decode, to talk about kids, COPPA and big technology companies.
